SKIT Day 17: Down the Rincons to Catalinas
Daily Miles: 18.6, Total Miles: 228.6
A surprisingly quiet and still night – usually the wind is blowing up here. I waited until the sun was almost upon me before getting dressed and packing up. I finally got to use my gloves on a brisk morning.

A bit more of a climb towards Mica Mountain warmed me up, then over the top and down the north slope of the Rincons with the Catalinas in full view. I hiked this section last spring and was hiking in snow. I saw a couple of whitetail deer – probably escaping hunting season by staying inside the Park.

Sure enough, I later passed two hunters sitting right on the trail and scoping a nearby hillside. Refilled water at an AZT bear box at Remington Road, well stocked with public water jugs. I continued on through the rolling hills working my way to the familiar Catalina foothills, the training grounds for many of my hikes.
I set up camp at the Milgrosa TH just south of the West Spring Tank.
