SKIT Day 8: Canelo Hills

A pleasant hike today on the rollercoaster trail through the Canelo Hills on a warm, sunny day. Plenty of water at Middle Canyon Tank, passed at Down Under Tank, and refilled again at some pools near Cott Tank.

I met several SOBO AZT hikers today, many of them had switched from the PCT due to fire closures. One hiker described his encounter with a group of illegal immigrants near upcoming Harshaw Road earlier in the day. His description fits the group of young men I saw in the Huachucas to a T.

I spent too much time gabbing with a couple of hikers at the last water source. Put on the headlamp and got another three miles. Just enough of a flat spot that wasn’t already taken by high grass and other vegetation.
