WHW Day 4: Kinlochleven to Fort William
Daily Miles: 17.0, Total Miles: 45.0
Finally a clear, sunny day on the WHW so we got an early start!
Today’s hike started with the final climb up through the woods above Kinlochleven. Wow, what great views back to the village and down Loch Leven. We re-joined the old military road and a more gradual climb through an empty glen flanked by the steep Mamore Mountains.

We passed by Tigh-na-sleubhaich, remnants of former cottages on the old military road and then had lunch at the ruin of Lairigmor (big pass).

Ben Nevis eventually came into view and we hiked towards it and then along the flank.

Finally a long descent to the Ben Nevis Visitors Center and then into Fort William, the end of the WHW. Our first stop was a pub for a celebratory Scottish ale. We couldn’t miss the trail’s official end on High Street and the bronze sculpture of a weary but triumphant walker.

A nice finish to a fun hike with Mrs. Haze! We take off tomorrow for another week of exploring the Scottish Highlands, the Isle of Sky and Inverness, this time by rental car.
